Big rosettes of fuzzy grey green leaves, with large white pungent scented flower spikes. This is an ancient medicinal herb, used for several thousand years throughout the Mediterranean region. The plant grows quickly to 3 feet tall, producing lovely large flower spikes that smell attractive to a few people, but for many the entire plant smells like sweat. It is used for its mucilaginous seed to remove foreign objects from the eye (try it for removing splinters from your skin!) and the pungent oil is used to bring a sense of balance and peace.
Plant in full sun in well drained, hot dry soil. Grown as a biennial or short lived perennial. Self sows easily.
