‘Kent Beauty’ is a striking plant in sunny containers or rock garden. It can be difficult to establish, since it needs a very hot, dry location, but is long lived once you find the right place for it. It has an elegant spreading habit, with leathery gray green leaves that have strong venation. The surprise is the drooping heads ‘hop-type blooms of rosy pink and chartreuse bracts, with little pink corollas peeking out. it is very showy and is a great flower to use fresh or dried in arrangements.
‘Kent Beauty’ only grows to 6 inches tall, but its long arching flowering branches reach out 2 feet. It is ideal for hot dry hanging baskets or containers, or hanging over rock or dry creek beds.
Prune back hard at the end of winter to the basal growth. Fertilize sparingly, only once a year in the ground, or once every 6 weeks in containers.
