Brittlebush is an evergreen perennial shrub 2-3 ft tall and wide with silver gray leaves. Native bees and butterflies love the yellow daisy blooms. Flowers heavily in spring but has been known to bloom occasionally through the year. The shrub can be cut back in the fall to help make it more compact. The leaves are evergreen, fragrant and medicinal. The native people of the area burned leaves as incense, chewed leaves for toothaches, and used resin of the shrub for glue, varnish, and waterproofing. It is extremely drought tolerant and does best in hot, dry conditions.
