THE YEAR ROUND POLLINATOR GARDEN
Saturday, 10:30 am: FREE
Want to learn how to entice pollinators into your garden year round?  Join Solano County Master Gardener Melinda Nestlerode for a 40 minute informative talk on year round plants for your pollinator garden, providing habitat for butterflies, hummingbirds and the native bees, and some basics on growing healthy plants.   Melinda has been a Solano County Master Gardener since 2013. She focuses on drought tolerant plants and building healthy, organic soil. In 2018 she received additional training regarding creating gardens that will attract and sustain pollinators. She is excited to share this information with the community.

BEE LOVE:  NATURE’S HARDEST WORKING GARDENERS!
Saturday 12:00 pm:  FREE
Solano County Master Gardener Tom Tucker is the bee expert in Solano County.  If you want to invite hard working bees of all kinds into your garden Tom is your guide to learn how to bring them into your garden to feed, and to keep them in your garden with proper shelter, water and protection.  In this 40 minute talk, learn the basics of the many types of bees that come into your garden and some basic bee identification.  One of the main reason many people include lavender plants in their gardens is to provide bees with high quality nectar, so make sure you are providing everything the bee population needs to be maintained in your garden.

LAVENDER DISTILLATION DEMONSTRATION AT SOUL FOOD FARM
Saturday 2 pm: FREE
Our lavender businesses can’t succeed without our hard working husbands!  Dan Sale of Morningsun Herb Farm and Eric Koefoed of Soul Food Farm will demo our new 10 gallon copper still that we will be using to distill our lavender for essential oil and flower water (hydrosol).  They will start the still early (about ½ hour) to get the still up to boiling, and the distillation once the still is up to temperature will run about 45 minutes.  Stop by anytime during the 2 pm hour on Saturday or the 11 am hour on Sunday to see how the still works, ask questions and sample the ‘lavender fruits’ of our labor, and to try examples of our rose geranium flower water and lemon balm flower water.
