Deep reddish purple flowers with almost black calyces. Grows to 2 feet tall and is a bit twiggy if not pruned back. Blooms all summer, into the fall, and is a terrific hummingbird plant. Grow as a low flowering hedge in full sun or a bit of dappled afternoon shade. Drought tolerant, although it will flourish with average garden water if the drainage is good.
Native to southwest Texas and northern Mexico.
